A Guide to the 2011 BMW Range
BMW cars are the most sought after luxury performance cars in the world. German made and engineered, they are the epitome of style, luxury, power and prestige. Currently sitting atop the mountain in terms of automobile manufacturers, BMW have a ridiculously broad range of cars available at ranging prices. Some are more affordable than others – some are almost unbelievably expensive. However, they’re all worth it.

The range of BMW’s currently being produced really runs the gamut. They have a range of 4WD/SUV’s, hatchbacks, coupes, sedans, wagons and convertibles. And that’s just scratching the surface.
Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? The 1 Series is a range of small, stylish coupes, convertibles and hatches. The Sport Coupe in particular is a gorgeous beast, a powerful yet stylish car that commands the roads with grace and elegance. The Sport Coupe also has an almost regal shape to the body and a sophisticated, traditional curve that makes it stand out from your other sport coupes on the road. Of course, the BMW Sport Coupe is kitted out with ABS, AC, power steering, central locking and all the mod cons. A true steal at ~$70,000!
The 3 Series is the most widely driven, at a slightly lower price and with comparable benefits. The 3 Series is the larger sedan you see most commonly on the roads, with more space inside and a quiet engine that truly impresses. Some models, such as the 320d, are just about the perfect compact sedan. A powerful engine that somehow runs incredibly quietly, has a spacious and well-crafted interior, a stylish and sleek body and runs on diesel for extreme efficiency, the 320d is an amazing machine.
Professionals have described the 320d as the complete compact sedan; with an exquisitely engineered engine that performs smoothly – even for a diesel – the 320d is the ultimate in luxury compact sedans.
We haven’t even started on the 5, 6, 7 and X series’! As you go up in numeric value, so do the prices. This is unfortunate, as the cars simply get better. If you have the money – and I’m sure you do – I implore you to research the current BMW lines. Talk about luxury! They include features such as rear view cameras, inbuilt DVD players and televisions, power seat adjustment and professional navigation. As I mentioned, if you have the cash for such amazing luxuries they are a must buy. BMW is the premier prestige car manufacturer in the world at the moment, and their vehicles are hard to look past. The New Mercedes SLS At A Glance
Of the many Mercedes supercar models, the SLR was deemed to be one of the worst productions of Mercedes Benz. It did not give a sense of purity by any McLaren or Mercedes engineers because most of them were not satisfied with the fast-moving, free-wheeling development culture. McLaren’s Gordon Murray, who was the champion of grand prix racing, claimed that the SLR was overwrought and overweight. He, who was the source of motivation behind the McLaren F1 supercar, excreted his thoughts of personal philosophy.
Perhaps due to the prestige and popularity of the Gullwing as well as the negative elements spoken about the SLR, Mercedes Benz finally came up with the new Mercedes SLS. The AMG series saw the high technological, lightweight, 571hp super coupe that symbolizes the Mercedes’ distinguished manufacture. The overall design, performances and utmost tech savvy features of the car reveal some of the brightest engineers in the world’s greatest automotive developing companies. Along with the Gullwing distinctive doors, the SLS marks a historic model in the Mercedes’ records.
Similar to the SLR Mercedes supercar, the SLS is installed with a 6.3 liter V8 front mid-engine, located precisely behind the front axle center-line. The engine was made according to the M156 V8 model from the previous SL63 AMG but it has been primped and tweaked to perform a new in-house sobriquet M159. Mercedes acknowledged that there are more than 120 components have been remodeled but overall, though much differences, seen a clearly notable alteration of the dry sump system that permits the M159 to nestle low down its frame.
The engine of the new Mercedes SLS utilizes a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, being positioned at the rear part to assist the delivery of the 48/52 front and rear weight distribution. The transmission has a launch-control mode that permits complete commando to begin with controlled wheelspin, as a security ac to prevent the bogging of engine down off the line. The connection between the transmission and engine are done via a sand-cast aluminum torque-tube (Chris Cornell:Ezine)
